Project History

  • 2010-Present. YUSA - PHC GIS. A National Mapping and Reporting System for Y-USA Pioneering Health Communities.
  • 2010-Present. Childhood Obesity Prevention GIS. Development and Implementation of a National Web-based Childhood Obesity Prevention Geographic Information System.
  • 2008-Present. Community Issues Management. Community Issues Management (CIM) is a web-based Collaborative Management System designed for local and regional organizations to frame, manage and take action on complex issues.
  • 2005-2008. Community Information Resources Center (CIRC). The Community Information Resources Center (CIRC) uses spatial information to help visualize “place-based” issues impacting communities across the United States. In addition to serving as a RUPRI core resource for panels and stakeholders, CIRC also coordinates with other national initiatives to help bring a spatial dimension to community issues. Job Duties: Web Programming, GIS Analysis/Cartography, Database Management.

  • 2004-2006. Lincoln Home National Historic Site - Photo Archive Project. Project goals are to digitize and make accessible (via an internet-based search tool) approximately 24,000 photographs from the Historic Site's museum collection. Each photograph comes with unique metadata such as image description, date, location, photographer, etc. Job Duties: Project Manager.

  • 2004-2006. Spatial Nutrient Management Planner. The Spatial Nutrient Management Planner (SNMP) is a decision support tool that facilitates the collection, analysis, and presentation of spatial information related to the agricultural placement of nutrients incorporating current state regulations and geographic constraints. Job Duties: Web Design, Technical Instructor.

  • 2001-2004. Missouri Digital Hypsography.  Work-share project developing 1:24,000-scale contour layers and related spot elevation information in a digital format for the United States Geological Survey and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Job Duties: Data Development, Quality Control.

  • Masters Research (1999-2001). Measuring Spatial Inequality: Proximal Access to Child-Care in Boone County, Missouri. Compilation, management, and analysis of over 8,000 geographic records including addresses of children and child-care facilities in Boone County, Missouri. Thesis research focused on the spatial accessibility of households to child-care using GIS as a tool for understanding social inequality in relation to service delivery. (completed as a thesis for the Master of Arts Degree, Dept. of Geography, University of Missouri)
