Project History

  • 1996-1997 Highway Naming Project. This project included entering new road names into Missouri TIGER Line 1995 files in preparation for attribute conflation to MODOTs 1:100,000-scale Digital Line graph files. New roads were located and entered. State highway TIGER names were standardized and private roads identified. This project was funded by the Missouri Department of Transportation and conducted at the Geographic Resources Center (MSDIS).
  • 1997-1998 Soils Project. This project involves the creation of digital soil surveys for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Using scanning technology and GIS, each county in Missouri is digitized at 1:24,000-scale and is later placed at MSDIS for public use after SSURGO certification.
  • 1998 Static Watershed Map Series Draft a series of maps of the state of Missouri for the CARES Internet Map Server.
  • 1998 Disaster Management Tool Create a trial GIS database as an emergency response tool for the Army Veterinary Corps.
  • 1998-2004 Hypsography Project - Project Manager on a Work-Share project developing 1:24,000-scale contour layers and related spot elevation information in a digital format for the United States Geological Survey and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Arc Macros were created for all steps of production through final error checking to produce Level 3 Digital Line Graphs. This is an ongoing project and has been extended through fiscal year 2005.
  • 2003 Iowa Floodplain Delineation - Create a setup and editing interface. Develop transects for study area to read from DEMs and show potential floodplain areas.

  • 2004 Digital Elevation Models - Create statewide and quadrangle level 10 meter resolution DEMs for Missouri Department of Natural Resources, United States Geological Survey National Map, and Natural Resource Conservation Services using Missouri hypsography and National Hydrography Data.

  • 2005 Missouri Floodplain Delineation - Create FEMA standard Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps for unmapped Zone A regions in Missouri. Incorporate existing Detailed Studies into the new data sets.
