Refinement of the Nutrient Management Planner

Background

The objective of this project is to refine the capabilities of the Nutrient Management Planner developed under the Nutrient Management Decision Support System Project. Refinements include fixing known errors, ease of use enhancements, the addition of tools to define restriction buffers for the application of manure around various features, and other enhancements to facilitate manure application planning.

Specifically CARES will accomplish the following tasks:

  • Incorporate date functionality to handle multiple crop years.
  • Refine soil test recommendation algorithm and test for accuracy.
  • Refine the farm and field boundary digitizing tools, add functionality to split existing fields.
  • Refine DOQ selection/display tool.
  • Add feature buffering capability.
